Sushi Dokoro Mutsuki (すし処 睦月) serves Edomae sushi built on local catch from Mikawa Bay and Ise Bay rather than luxury imports. The chef works with two rices, red-vinegar and white-vinegar shari, and chooses one or the other to suit each fish. His fine knife-scoring makes squid melt in the mouth. Signature pairings serve one ingredient two ways, notably sawara (Spanish mackerel), both grilled and straw-smoked. The counter has won the Tabelog Award Bronze in 2025 and 2026.
Nearly every review praises the shari: small pieces of firm grains that dissolve on the tongue. Reviewers single out the anago (simmered sea eel) again and again, especially eel from Nagoya port. Other favourites are seasonal torigai (cockle), kohada (gizzard shad) and a generous uni roll. Drinkers praise the 7–9 small plates served before the sushi and the well-chosen sake, poured by the half-gō. Many reviewers also mention the warm couple who run the counter.
The most consistent complaint is portion size: several reviewers say the small pieces leave a hungry adult man unsatisfied. One lunch guest found the tuna merely decent for the price. One visit was weaker after a typhoon disrupted the catch.
The listed budget bands look out of date. In 2025–2026, reviewers paid around ¥8,800 for the shorter weekend lunch course and around ¥22,000 for the full omakase (up from ¥15,000 in 2020 and ¥19,800 in 2023). Dishes are not priced individually, because the anago, kohada and uni roll all come within the course. With drinks, dinner ran to about ¥27,000–28,000 per person. One diner paid ¥33,135 after adding eight extra pieces and four half-gō of sake. Reviewers describe the drinks as cheap.
Reviewers repeatedly call it cheap for the quality and estimate that a comparable meal in central Tokyo would cost ¥30,000 or more. The main caveat is portion size.
