China Sichuan Shuka Manzan (中国四川酒家 蔓山) has been cooking Sichuan food in a quiet residential corner of Chiba since 2010. It has won a Tabelog Award Bronze in 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The kitchen builds its courses around named Japanese produce: Tateyama wild boar, Duzhong Korai pork raised on herbal feed, and Choshi kinmedai. The heat is kept moderate so these ingredients lead. Meals close with a chen mapo dofu made without chili oil, often finished in front of you. The husband-and-wife owners also keep a reasonably priced wine list chosen to match the food.

Almost every reviewer singles out the mapo tofu, eaten over free refills of Akita Komachi rice. Other dishes praised again and again:

  • the huiguorou (twice-cooked pork) with bocchan pumpkin or wild boar
  • bone-in bang bang chicken
  • snow crab stir-fried with potato noodles and green Sichuan pepper
  • xiaolongbao

Several reviewers rank the add-on fried rice and soupless tantanmen among the best they have eaten. The couple's warmth and detailed explanations of each dish come up constantly.

The recurring complaint is pacing. The chef cooks alone, so gaps between dishes can stretch to 30 minutes and a meal can run three hours or more. A few diners found the later courses repetitive or too mild, and one found the chef stubborn.

There is no lunch service; dinner is courses only, with a typical spend of ¥10,000–14,999. In mid-2026 reviewers paid ¥11,000 for the entry course, with ¥22,000 and ¥33,000 courses above it, plus a 10% service charge. A hot-pot course is also offered. Typical totals were about ¥14,500 for the entry course with two glasses of Shaoxing wine, and about ¥30,300 for the ¥22,000 course with wine. A half portion of soupless tantanmen cost ¥800, wine by the glass ¥900–1,400, and a 480ml bottle of Shaoxing wine ¥2,600 in 2024. Most reviewers consider it good value for the cooking and the generous portions, though recent price rises have cooled a few.
