Restaurant SNOW (レストラン スノゥ) is a one-man show, a culinary theatre where chef-owner Yukinori Iwashita personally guides diners through the terroir of Kyushu. The experience is built around a monthly-changing tasting menu that showcases the region's seasonal bounty, from rare local fish to hyper-local produce. Each course is presented and explained by the chef himself, often in fluent English, from his position at the open counter.

Signature dishes that have earned consistent praise include a vibrant green gazpacho served with a surprising olive oil sherbet, and the 'Taste of Kyushu' plate, a stunning arrangement of appetisers laid out on a glass map of the island. Reviewers frequently highlight the exceptional quality of the fish courses, featuring uncommon species like yasumi or menada, and the house-baked breads, particularly an ultra-hydrated focaccia. The meal culminates in a 'Grand Dessert', a parade of 18 to 20 different petits fours that provides a spectacular finale.

While overwhelmingly positive, some diners note the dinner's length—often running 3 to 3.5 hours—can feel slow. Given the solo service, the chef's explanations can sometimes be rapid or overlap between tables. However, the experience is widely regarded as excellent value, especially for lunch. Reviewers recently paid between ¥3,850 and ¥8,800 for lunch courses, while a common dinner course was priced at ¥14,850. With wine pairings, which are highly recommended but add significantly to the cost, the final bill can reach ¥20,000–¥27,000 per person.

  • Booking: Essential. Reservations must be made well in advance, as lunch seats can be booked out for months.
  • Getting There: Located in the Esperanza Tenjin Minami building, a 5-minute walk from Yakuin Station or Watanabedori Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line.
  • Seating: The restaurant has 14 seats, including a 5-seat counter, a round table, and other table seating. There are no private rooms.
  • Payment: Credit cards (Visa, Master, JCB, Amex, Diners) and PayPay are accepted. Electronic money is not.
  • Parking: A paid lot with four spaces is available in front of the restaurant, with other paid lots nearby.
  • Good to Know: The entire restaurant is non-smoking. The chef provides explanations for each course, and many visitors have noted these are available in English.
