Saffron is a beloved local restaurant in Yanagawa, celebrated for one thing: its steak-style hamburger patty. Made from 100% beef with no fillers, the patty is served on a sizzling iron plate, still very rare in the centre. The magic is in the small, super-heated stone that comes with it, allowing you to slice off a piece and cook it to your exact preference. The experience is enhanced by the retro café atmosphere and attentive, old-school service.

Guests consistently praise the beef-forward flavour and satisfying, steak-like texture of the 180g patty. The ability to control the doneness at the table is a major draw. The meal comes with two house sauces—a savoury, dashi-based 'Japanese' sauce and a classic demi-glace—plus yuzu-kosho and mustard for variety. The optional cheese sauce, served on the side for dipping, is a very popular add-on. While the interactive cooking is a highlight for most, a few diners who prefer their meat well-done found the initial rawness off-putting. A small minority also felt the sauces or side dishes were less impressive than the main event.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 reported paying around ¥1,630–¥1,730 for a standard 180g hamburger set, and ¥2,330–¥2,380 for a double-patty set. The cheese sauce topping costs about ¥400. Lunch sets typically include soup and a choice of rice or bread. The vast majority of visitors consider Saffron excellent value for money, given the quality of the beef and the unique dining experience.
