Torila is a stage for its chef-owner and the rare chickens he serves. This small counter in Fukuoka's Hirao district offers an ingredient-forward yakitori omakase built around exceptional poultry, such as Amakusa Daio and Kuro Satsuma breeds. The experience is a performance, where refined small plates flow into expertly grilled skewers, all set to the rhythm of the chef's personality and extensive wine pairings.

The multi-course menu, which can span 20 items, is consistently praised for its structure and execution. Guests love the creative starters, like a white liver pâté served in a crisp monaka wafer, before the main event begins. The skewers showcase flawless fire control, with highlights including delicate sasami (chicken tenderloin), juicy furisode (shoulder), a show-stopping tsukune (meatball), and crisp tebasaki (wing). The meal often concludes with a rich bowl of chicken ramen and a signature kinkan (unlaid egg yolk) over rice.

However, the experience is not for everyone. The owner's boisterous personality is central to the evening; he can be loud and is known to favour regulars and guests who order wine. First-timers or non-drinkers may find the atmosphere unwelcoming. The service pace can also be unpredictable, with some seatings running very late. Reviewers have noted a brusque attitude towards cancellations and payments.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 reported the omakase course cost between ¥10,500 and ¥13,200. With drinks, the total spend typically falls between ¥15,000 and ¥19,999 per person, though bills can easily climb higher with wine; one party of two reported a bill of ¥42,000. For those who embrace the theatricality and enjoy wine, it is considered excellent value. For those seeking quiet, formal service, it is not.
