PIZZERIA DA MASSIMO (ピッツェリア ダ マッシモ) has built a city-wide reputation on just two items: Pizza Margherita and Pizza Marinara. The focus is absolute, with each pizza baked for only a minute or two in a searingly hot wood-and-stone oven. This process, combined with a long-fermented dough, creates the pizzeria's signature crust: pillowy at the edge with a blistered char, yet remarkably thin and chewy in the center.

Reviewers consistently describe the dough's texture as "mochi-like" and praise the perfect balance of flavours—the simple harmony of cheese and basil on the Margherita, and the intense garlic and tomato on the Marinara. The six counter seats offer a direct view of the owner's skilled work at the oven, an experience many guests appreciate. Its recognition includes multiple Tabelog "Hyakumeiten" (Top 100) awards and a Michelin Bib Gourmand mention.

The singular focus on pizza extends to the service, which can be brisk. Some guests find the owner curt and the atmosphere tense, with staff training sometimes audible. The experience is strictly about the pizza: there are no sides, no wine, and you cannot add to your order after placing it. Water is not complimentary; drinks are sold by the bottle.

Despite the no-frills service, the value is considered excellent. Reviewers recently paid around ¥1,400 for a Margherita and ¥1,200 for a Marinara, with a typical spend of ¥1,000–¥1,999 for a meal. Bottled drinks like juice or water cost ¥200–¥300. For pizza of this quality, the prices are very reasonable.
