SHÓKUDŌ YArn (SHOKUDO YArn) is a unique culinary theatre staged by a husband-and-wife ‘W-chef’ team in a renovated yarn factory in Komatsu. The experience revolves around a single, experimental tasting menu that reworks locally sourced Hokuriku ingredients with Spanish and Italian techniques. Each course is presented as a riddle, with cryptic menu names and a playful atmosphere built around a 200-year-old olive tree at the room's center.

Guests consistently praise the kitchen's creativity and reliable execution. Standout dishes mentioned by reviewers include a low-temperature hairy crab (kegani), a firefly squid (hotaru-ika) risotto, and inventive preparations of game like bear, venison, and boar. Theatrical desserts, such as the ‘shoecake’ shortcake, are also a highlight. Many commend the couple’s warm stage presence and the thoughtful wine and sake pairings.

Criticisms are almost entirely practical. The meal is long, lasting between two and four hours, and has a strict, simultaneous start time for all guests, making punctuality essential. Photography is also restricted; the number of photos you can take is determined by a random ‘gacha’ game played during service, a rule some find frustrating. A few isolated reviews noted brusque service or that the focus on entertainment occasionally overshadowed the food itself.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 reported paying around ¥13,200 for the shorter lunch menu and ¥22,000 for the dinner menu, plus a 10% service charge. Wine pairings were quoted at approximately ¥7,000. Most diners feel the price is fair for such an inventive, multi-sensory experience, though it may not suit those seeking a straightforward meal.
