Atsugi Honmaru Tei (厚木本丸亭) opened in 2000 as the original shop of the Honmarutei lineage. It has run independently of the Yokohama chain since 2010. Its signature is a clear shio (salt) broth built on chicken, pork and seafood, topped with a heap of shungiku (edible chrysanthemum greens) whose gentle bitterness lifts the soup. Wavy, hand-rubbed flat noodles in the Sano style complete the bowl. The shop has been selected for Tabelog's regional "Tabelog 100" ramen list every year from 2019 to 2025.
Almost every reviewer singles out the rolled pork-belly chashu, seared at the edges and soft enough to fall apart. The shungiku wins over sceptics, and many reviewers drink the broth to the last drop. The springy noodles, the salt-seasoned ajitama (marinated egg) and the large winged gyoza come up repeatedly. So do the monthly specials, such as a cold vichyssoise ramen and a seven-mushroom bowl. Reviewers describe the owner and staff as warm.
Not everyone is convinced. Some find the salt sharp at first, and shungiku divides opinion. A few call the noodles firm, and one reviewer warns that they soften quickly. Several long-time regulars feel the bowl has become pricier and less striking than it used to be. There are isolated mentions of lukewarm soup and an ordinary wonton.
Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around ¥880–980 for the Honmaru shio ramen, ¥1,280 for the shrimp-wonton version and ¥1,450 for the three-chashu bowl. Extras ran about ¥150 for an ajitama, ¥500 for gyoza and ¥300 for a lunchtime mini manma-don (rice bowl). A large portion of noodles added about ¥300. Expect to spend roughly ¥1,000–1,500 at either lunch or dinner.
Most reviewers consider it good value for the quality, with generous chashu and filling noodles. A minority of regulars think recent price rises have outpaced the bowl.
