ha-na is a tiny Italian restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team a short walk from Kokusai-dori, and its cooking is built on Okinawan produce. Lunch sets open with a heaped salad, sometimes with handama, a purple Okinawan leaf, in a balsamic dressing reduced with beet sugar. The two signature pastas are a light mentaiko (spicy cod roe) cream buried under a dome of shiso leaves, and a 'white' Bolognese of Yanbaru island pork, also served on fresh chitarra. The restaurant was selected for Tabelog's Italian WEST "Tabelog 100" in 2023.
Reviewers return again and again to the mentaiko-shiso pasta and the white Bolognese, and several call them the best pasta of their lives. The oversized salad and warm walnut bread appear in almost every lunch review. At dinner the antipasto platter is the star, with the pâté de campagne and bruschetta singled out. Many also praise the warm, attentive service from the owner's wife.
Dinner comes with rules. The antipasto platter can only be ordered when you book by phone, pasta is served only from 19:00, and each table is limited to two pasta types. One diner was asked to switch to what other tables had ordered. One reviewer found the service condescending, and another describes repeated price checks before a disappointing wagyu steak. Some find the seasoning salty, and popular dishes sell out late in service.
Reviewers in 2024–2025 paid about ¥1,320 for a large white-Bolognese lunch set and about ¥1,400 for the mentaiko set, each with salad, bread and a drink. A large portion is 1.8 times the regular amount of noodles. A 2024 diner was quoted ¥3,500 plus tax for the wagyu steak. Expect to spend roughly ¥1,400–3,000 at lunch and ¥5,000–6,000 a head at dinner, including a seat charge and a compulsory drink. Lunch is outstanding value for the portions and standard, and dinner is fair for the quality.
