YAKISHIN grills Amagi shamo, a firm, free-range chicken from Shizuoka that reviewers say no other restaurant in Okinawa serves. Whole birds arrive at the restaurant and are butchered in-house, and the skin comes off the grill shatteringly crisp. There are eight seats around the grill and one set course. The meal ends with an oyakodon made with about three eggs and cooked so loose it is almost drinkable. Many reviewers call it the best they have eaten.

The oyakodon comes up in nearly every review. Diners also single out the deboned wings, a springy heart, tsukune with plum and garlic, juicy shiitake and a chicken-soboro toast. Recent visitors praise the free-flow Akita sake, which includes Aramasa, and a sharp tomato-vinegar sour. The owner is quiet but warms up once you talk to him. Taiwanese guests in particular felt welcome.

On the downside, several reviewers wanted more skewers. One first-timer felt like an outsider among the regulars, and another found the KP routine, where you pay to toast with the chef, a little bar-like. Older complaints about slow pacing and an unexplained room charge date from the previous Haebaru location and have not recurred since the move.

Prices are for dinner only, and there is no lunch service. In 2026, reviewers paid ¥15,000 per person for the course, including tax and free-flow drinks. A KP toast with the chef was listed at ¥1,000. Extra skewers can be added, but reviewers did not record what they paid for them. Wine and champagne cost extra. The listing puts typical dinner spend at ¥15,000–19,999.

It is good value if you drink. Most reviewers call ¥15,000 with premium sake fair, or even cheap by Tokyo standards, and portions leave people full. Non-drinkers rated the value noticeably lower.

  • Getting there: about 8 minutes' walk (579 m) from Miebashi Station on the Yui Rail monorail. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor. Older reviews refer to the former Haebaru location.
  • Booking: reservation only, through Tabelog or by phone (080-8552-4704). Walk-ins are not accepted.
  • Payment: credit cards accepted. Electronic money and QR code payments are not accepted.
  • Seating: 8 counter seats. No private rooms, but the whole restaurant can be booked for private use.
  • Children: reviewers report that children have been accepted.
  • Time: allow about two hours.
  • Smoking: non-smoking throughout.
  • Parking: none.
