Kantodaki Kikuya (関東煮 きくや) is a beloved, old-school oden counter near Tamatsukuri Station, celebrated for its rich, drinkable dashi broth made from a chicken base. This is the heart of the experience, infusing every item with a deep, comforting flavour that has locals and visitors lining up down the street.

The must-order item, praised in countless reviews, is the bacon-wrapped shungiku (spring chrysanthemum), which is briefly dipped in the hot broth and served immediately. Other consistent favourites include classic oden staples like daikon radish, octopus (tako), chicken meatballs (tsukune), shumai dumplings, and ume-yaki (a plum-flavoured fish cake). Many finish their meal with a bowl of meat udon (niku-udon), which uses the same flavourful broth. Guests consistently praise the generous portions and fast service, making it a standout for value.

The restaurant's popularity means there are practical points to know. Expect a long queue, especially during peak hours. The restaurant is open on weekdays only and some popular items may sell out early. Seating is at a counter only, and the space is small.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 reported paying ¥140–¥180 for most oden items, such as daikon (¥140) and shumai (¥140–¥160). A bowl of meat udon was around ¥580–¥800, with a typical total bill coming to ¥1,000–¥2,000 per person. Given the quality and portion sizes, it is widely considered excellent value for money.
