Ono is a performance as much as a meal. At this intimate, nine-seat counter in Osaka's Sonezakishinchi district, the chef presents a theatrical omakase (tasting menu) built around exceptional ingredients sourced from Awaji Island. The atmosphere is lively and engaging, with the chef's every move part of the show.

Guests consistently praise the quality of the produce, from giant Awaji abalone and prized Yura sea urchin to a show-stopping, charcoal-finished Shatobriand steak. The menu also features creative signature dishes you won't find elsewhere, such as a savoury chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) enriched with truffle and cheese. The meal often concludes with multiple rice courses, including a popular corn rice, tai-meshi (sea bream rice), risotto, and even an Ise-ebi (spiny lobster) curry. The drink pairings, featuring rare sakes like Juyondai, are another major highlight.

While overwhelmingly positive, a few reviewers note that the generous portions can be overwhelming. Occasional service miscues have been reported, and a small minority felt certain courses didn't justify the high price. The main challenge, however, is securing a seat.

Dinner and lunch courses are priced similarly, with reviewers recently paying between ¥30,800 and ¥38,500 for the omakase alone. One party reported a total bill of around ¥48,000 per person with drink pairings. Most guests feel the experience is excellent value for a special occasion, given the world-class ingredients and masterful execution.
