Continuing the skyscraper theme: one of Shinjuku’s notable sights is the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. First, the building looks like part of Gotham City and the whole complex resembles a capitol. Second, you can enter freely. On the 45th floor (at 202 meters) there are two observation decks, North and South, which are free and offer beautiful city views — on clear days you can even see Mount Fuji. That’s not all: after dark there is a light show on the façade every 30 minutes until 21:30. On weekends and holidays there’s a special program featuring the legendary Godzilla, also free.
