Kibori (喜慕里) has been frying gyoza since 1972 and is one of the reference addresses for Hamamatsu-style dumplings, served in a circle with boiled bean sprouts. The skins are thin and fried hard on one face, and the cabbage-heavy filling is so loose that reviewers call it drinkable. It has been listed in the Tabelog Dumplings 100 in 2019, 2021 and 2024. Unusually, it also makes seafood gyoza with shrimp, squid or crab.

Guests praise the contrast between the crackly base and the molten filling, and how light the dumplings are: many finish 15, some 30. The ebi (shrimp) and kani (crab) gyoza come up often, and squid is the unusual pick. The cheap shoyu ramen, the miso horumon (offal) and the enormous large rice also win fans, including many Korean and Chinese visitors.

The main complaint is time. Gyoza are fried in batches after opening, so even the first diners wait 20–45 minutes after sitting down, and takeout orders seem to go ahead of dine-in. A minority find the filling bland with little garlic, service ranges from polite to curt, and some regulars report less consistency lately. One reviewer noted grimy kitchen vents and an old squat toilet; another found the room clean.

Reviewers in 2025–2026 paid around ¥580–640 for 10 gyoza and ¥870–960 for 15; the 15-piece set with rice and miso soup was about ¥1,140. Ramen was around ¥600 (about ¥700 with butter), small shrimp gyoza ¥740, other seafood gyoza ¥840 and the horumon set ¥930–980. Prices rose over the period, so expect the higher figures. Lunch and dinner both typically run ¥1,000–1,999. In money terms this is excellent value; the real cost is waiting.

  • Getting there: 10 minutes on foot from Takatsuka Station (South Exit), JR Tokaido Main Line, about 700 m.
  • Payment: cash only. No credit cards, no electronic money, no QR payments. Order at a ticket machine (Japanese only) and break ¥10,000 notes beforehand.
  • Booking: reservations are not accepted. Queues form before opening; weekend and holiday waits can exceed an hour.
  • Hours: closed Wednesday and Thursday; hours can change and some days are takeout-only without notice. Seafood gyoza can sell out by midday.
  • Seating: 36 seats: two 14-seat U-shaped counters and two 4-seat tables in a tatami room. No private rooms.
  • Children: welcome; family friendly.
  • Smoking: non-smoking.
  • Parking: available; the small car park has a narrow entrance.
  • Other: little English spoken. The table chili oil is very hot. Frozen takeout gyoza need a cool bag.
