Pan Ju Kuon (パン樹 久遠) looks like a picture book: a storybook shopfront and, inside, a giant sculpted tree rising to the ceiling. Reviewers compare it to a Ghibli film or Lord of the Rings. The award-winning owner bakes with natural yeast and local ingredients, including breads made with Atami daidai, the local bitter orange. Tabelog selected the bakery for its Bread EAST "Tabelog 100" in 2022 and again in 2026.

Reviewers keep coming back to the dough, which they describe as fresh, soft and chewy. The katsu sando (pork-cutlet sandwich) is the standout, and one visitor ate four in two days. The cream melon pan, a sweet bun under a cookie crust, is best warm at opening. Other favourites are the ancient-rice sandwich, yakisoba pan (fried noodles in a roll), curry bread, the blueberry loaf and the tea-flavoured French toast.

The criticism is mild. The coffee comes from a Costa machine, and several visitors found it merely adequate. A few reviewers found the bread pleasant but old-fashioned rather than exceptional. There are isolated complaints about a dry cookie, a pain au chocolat that was not flaky and a light mentaiko baguette.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around ¥280–300 for the katsu sando, ¥260 for yakisoba pan, ¥220 for curry bread, ¥230 for cream melon pan and ¥390 for the ancient-rice sandwich. Coffee cost ¥380–408 and café au lait about ¥450. A typical breakfast or lunch comes to under ¥1,000 per person. By dinner time the shelves are usually bare or the shop has closed.

Value is the strongest argument. Japanese reviewers repeatedly say the same breads would cost far more in Tokyo, and they still rate the quality highly.
