Restaurant Kawasaki (レストラン・カワサキ) is a one-man show, a theatrical dining experience centered on a single hunter-chef. Owner-chef Kawasaki sources his own game—including bear, boar, deer, and wild fowl—and transforms it using French techniques. The small, counter-focused dining room puts the open kitchen, complete with a visible meat-aging cabinet and hunting trophies, on full display, creating a direct connection from mountain to plate.

Guests consistently praise the chef's masterful handling of game, noting the deep flavors achieved without any intrusive 'gamey' smell. The single omakase menu features a procession of creative and memorable dishes. Highlights frequently mentioned by reviewers include a signature risotto made with bear (熊) or other game, a rich 'gibier' ramen, and house-cured ham aged for as long as seven years. The precise cooking, from the control of the fire to the seasoning, is a recurring point of acclaim, as are inventive courses like grilled-eggplant ice cream.

The experience is not for everyone. The chef is famously taciturn and the service is minimal, with diners often needing to ask questions to get details about the dishes. The intimate space can be noisy due to kitchen equipment, and the menu descriptions are deliberately sparse. While the food receives near-universal praise, those expecting polished, formal service should temper their expectations.

Reviewers in recent years (2023–2026) report the omakase course costs around ¥16,500. With drinks, diners have paid total bills ranging from ¥17,600 to ¥20,290. Given the unique sourcing, technical skill, and uncommon dishes, most find it offers excellent value for a destination meal.
