Daichin Chubo (大珍厨房) is a small counter-style eatery in Sangenjaya, an offshoot of the renowned Daichinro from Yokohama's Chinatown. It specializes in Chinese dishes made without any chemical seasonings, focusing on clear, natural flavours. The main draw is its combination of high-quality ingredients and modest prices, making it a local favourite for both quick meals and takeaway.

The star of the menu for many is the yakuzen herbal soup, a nourishing broth that accompanies many of the set meals. Guests consistently praise the freshly steamed dim sum and shumai, which are supplied by the same factory that serves high-end hotels. Other popular dishes include the ebi-mayo bowl (shrimp with mayonnaise) and a savoury beef-tendon bowl.

The venue is very small, with only about six seats at the counter, so many customers opt for takeout. Some reviewers have noted inconsistencies in certain dishes, like the size of the shrimp or the texture of the beef tendon. It's also important to note that at least one visitor reported there is no restroom on site. Crucially, a recent review mentioned that the eat-in counter was temporarily closed, so the experience may be takeout-only.

The value is a consistent point of praise. A typical lunch costs between ¥1,000 and ¥1,999, while dinner is around ¥4,000 to ¥4,999. For specific examples, reviewers recently paid ¥1,560 for a half-set of the ebi-mayo bowl, ¥380 for a sesame dumpling, and around ¥350–¥500 for a steamed meat bun (nikuman).

  • Location: A 2-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station's South Exit A, on the 1st floor of the First Building.
  • Booking: Walk-ins are welcome, especially for takeout. Reservations are accepted, but be aware the eat-in space is extremely limited and may be closed—it's best to confirm beforehand if you plan to dine in.
  • Payment: Accepts VISA and MasterCard, as well as QR code payments like PayPay and d Barai. Electronic money is not accepted.
  • Seating: Just 6 counter seats.
  • Children: Children are welcome.
  • Practical: There is no on-site parking and reportedly no restroom. The venue is non-smoking.
