La Maison du Chocolat Marunouchi ten (ラ・メゾン・デュ・ショコラ 丸の内店) is the oldest operating Japanese branch of the Paris house founded in 1977 by Robert Linxe, the chocolatier known as the 'magician of ganache', and now led by MOF chocolatier Nicolas Cloiseau. The shop is run like a hushed boutique. Staff hand you a full-size tasting piece while you browse, and you can buy single bonbons rather than only fixed boxes. It has been selected for the Tabelog Sweets Tokyo "Tabelog 100" list repeatedly, most recently in 2026.
Service is what foreign reviewers praise most. Staff are patient, use Google Translate when needed, advise on which items travel well and pack purchases with good ice packs. Of the chocolates, the plain ganaches Quito (dark) and Sylvia (milk) are singled out for their long, refined finish. The éclairs, especially caramel and the seasonal mango and mont blanc, come up often, as do the dense chocolate mousse cakes Délice and Traviata and the financiers.
Price is the steady complaint. One Japanese reviewer found the Délice no better than a good neighbourhood patisserie, and a Thai visitor preferred pralines to the ganaches. A single 2023 review described the service as unkind, which stands apart from the rest. Some visitors find the formal room intimidating.
Between 2024 and 2026, reviewers paid around ¥400–500 per bonbon (Quito ¥459), ¥3,510 for the six-piece Attention box and ¥9,800 for 24 pieces. Cakes ran ¥864–1,188 (Délice ¥1,026, caramel éclair ¥1,026). Macarons cost ¥432–459, financiers ¥378 and ice-cream bars ¥1,026. A small selection typically comes to ¥3,000–4,000. The shop serves no meals, so there is no separate lunch or dinner spend. The listing gives ¥3,000–3,999, and review-based spending averages ¥2,000–2,999.
It is expensive but fair. Most reviewers felt the flavour, packaging and free tasting justify the cost, particularly for gifts. The pastries are the weaker value.
