Tokyo Tofua Kobo (東京豆花工房) is a specialist shop in Kanda dedicated to a single dish: the Taiwanese dessert douhua, a silken tofu pudding. What makes it a standout is its focus on contrasting textures and authentic flavours. You can choose your douhua served hot, cold, or over shaved ice, with a choice of ginger or black sugar syrup. For the same price, you can opt for 'zenbu nose' — all available toppings — which reviewers highly recommend.
Guests consistently praise the douhua itself for its delicate, gently sweet flavour and the perfect balance of the syrups. The toppings are a major draw, with a generous assortment including chewy fungui (tapioca cakes), white wood-ear mushrooms, purple rice, soft-boiled peanuts, and mung beans, all clearly prepared in-house. Many reviewers note that a topped bowl, which recently cost around ¥800–¥850, is substantial enough to be a light meal and represents excellent value. A plain bowl was reported to be around ¥550.
The main drawback is the venue's size. With only six seats, queues are common and guests are expected to leave soon after finishing. A few reviewers found the service brusque or the tofu less silky than versions in Taiwan, but these are minority opinions. Takeout is an option, though some report that iced versions can leak in transit.
