Tori Oka (鳥おか) is a small, nine-seat counter in Azabudai Hills that showcases a masterful approach to yakitori. The chef's close-charcoal technique imparts a deep, smoky aroma and perfect char to each skewer, which are notably larger and more meat-forward than at many other top shops. The signature kashiwa (chicken thigh) is consistently praised for its size and flavour, as are the seseri (neck), tsukune (meatball), heart, and bonjiri (tail).

What sets the omakase course apart are the well-executed interludes between the grilled items. Dishes like chicken tacos and a rich chicken ramen add a surprising and modern twist to the meal, which concludes with a standout oyakodon or soboro don (chicken and egg or minced chicken on rice). While most guests praise the attentive service, a minority have reported brusque behaviour from the manager and disputes over drink billing. Some also find the non-traditional dishes, like the Mexican-inspired touches, to be an unnecessary distraction from the excellent yakitori.

For the quality and portion size, Tori Oka offers good value, though it is firmly in the fine-dining price bracket. Reviewers in 2024–2025 reported a lunch short course for around ¥8,800. Dinner omakase is often quoted around ¥17,000–¥18,000, but with drinks and a 10% service charge, final bills frequently reached ¥24,000 per person. Be aware that some guests reported significantly higher totals after ordering extra skewers (priced around ¥1,000–¥1,200 each) and drinks, so it's wise to confirm prices as you go.
