RESTAURANT CAZE (レストランテ 風) offers a unique dining experience on a vineyard hill in Yamanashi, Japan's premier wine country. Run by the Katsunuma Jozo winery, the restaurant is housed in a striking building with high ceilings and grand windows, modeled on a European church and offering sweeping views of the surrounding vines.

The undisputed star of the menu is the Tokusen Wagyu roast beef. In a memorable ritual, a multi-cut piece of sirloin and round is brought to the table and carved for guests. Reviewers consistently describe the beef as exceptionally tender and 'melting'. It's served with a selection of condiments, including fresh wasabi, sweet soy, and pink-pepper salt. The experience is elevated by expertly curated pairings of the house wines and, in the evening, live piano music.

While the roast beef earns universal praise, a minority of guests have noted some inconsistency, with reports of slow service or other courses feeling average in comparison. The table-side carving service has also been intermittently suspended. However, most visitors find the overall experience, especially for celebrations, to be polished and memorable.

A typical lunch costs between ¥8,000 and ¥9,999, with dinner ranging from ¥10,000 to ¥14,999. Reviewers recently paid around ¥7,700 for a lunch course and ¥12,000 for a dinner course. Most agree this is fair value for a special occasion meal in such a distinctive setting.

  • Booking: Dinner is by reservation only. Booking is highly recommended for all visits, especially for popular window seats on weekends.
  • Getting There: The restaurant is a 7-minute drive from Katsunuma Budokyo Station. A car is the most convenient option. Taxis can be scarce in the evening.
  • Age Restriction: Guests with children of preschool age or younger are asked to refrain from visiting during dinner service.
  • Payment: Major credit cards (Visa, Master, AMEX, JCB, Diners) and PayPay are accepted. Electronic money is not accepted. A 10% service charge is added to dinner bills.
  • Seating: There are 64 table seats. Private rooms are not available.
  • Facilities: The restaurant is non-smoking and wheelchair accessible. Parking is available.
