French Ryori Kochuten (フランス料理 壺中天) is one of Nagoya's most decorated French restaurants and won Tabelog Award Bronze seven times between 2017 and 2026. Its signature is a consommé jelly with sea urchin and lobster. The clear wagyu-shank consommé is set over cauliflower cream and served on ice, and regulars say versions elsewhere fall well short. The chef reportedly won an international pâté en croûte competition in 2014, and his pâté appears among the amuse-bouches. Courses also feature rare 24-month BON DABON ham alongside a broth made from it.

Most reviews single out the consommé jelly. The stuffed quail confit main comes up constantly, and the pâté en croûte is praised often. Seasonal dishes draw raves, notably wild ayu (sweetfish) wrapped in kadaif and French pigeon. Diners note precise cooking temperatures, warmed and chilled cutlery, well-judged wine pairings and a calm, spacious dining room that suits anniversaries.

Criticism is minor. A few found the younger staff's dish explanations rushed. One reviewer thought a saffron sauce too salty and the bread ordinary, and a couple disliked a dessert. One noted that voices echo under the high ceiling.

In 2025–2026, reviewers paid around ¥13,500 plus 10% service for the lunch course that includes the signature consommé jelly. A dinner course cost around ¥25,000, and one reviewer reported a six-course lunch for under ¥10,000. Typical spend is ¥10,000–14,999 at lunch and ¥20,000–29,999 at dinner. Wine pairings run to about eight glasses.

Most reviewers consider it good value for the level and cite generous portions and meticulous detail. One business diner found it expensive for what it is. Lunch is widely recommended as the best way in.
