Atsuta Shrine

The shrine is located on a fairly large, green site. Besides the main shrine there are other small shrines, traditional torii gates, an old lantern and a huge camphor tree. At Shinto shrines you can draw an omikuji — a paper fortune; if it's bad, tie it to the special rack at the shrine to leave misfortune behind. Entrance to the park area is free.

Nagoya Castle

The 17th-century castle was destroyed by bombing during World War II and was rebuilt and reopened to visitors in 2018. However, as of late 2025 the main keep is closed to visitors — you can only explore the garden and the buildings on the grounds and, if you're lucky, catch ninja performances. Admission to the castle grounds is ¥500.

In the city centre, amid a green boulevard, stands a 180-metre TV tower built in 1954. It is the only tower in Japan that is designated as a cultural property. Admission to the observation deck is ¥1,300. In 2021 the stair-climb speed competition — from the very bottom to the top of the tower — was resumed.

The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology appeals to everyone: history buffs, car and robot fans, children and adults. Interactive exhibits show the evolution from the textile industry to automobile manufacturing and robotics — the story of Japan's technological miracle. The museum shop sells unusual car-themed souvenirs (cutlery shaped like a wrench), and you can even make a small toy car yourself using a mechanical press. The museum is quite large, so allow at least two to three hours to see everything. Admission is 1,000 yen.
