Sarrasin (サラザン) has earned a reputation as one of western Japan's top soba destinations, built on two pillars: delicate, handmade soba noodles and premium Kawachi duck. The signature dish, praised in nearly every review, is the kamo-tsukesoba: finely cut cold soba served with a warm, intensely flavorful duck dipping broth. A curated set of condiments like Guerande salt, spicy daikon, and sudachi citrus allows diners to customize the taste with each bite.
Guests consistently laud the quality of the duck, whether served as roast, tataki, or karaage fried chicken-style. The lunch service is particularly good value, often including a complimentary small bowl of duck-soboro rice and a side dish. By night, Sarrasin transforms into an intimate, reservation-only affair, offering multi-course menus centered around duck preparations.
Diners should be aware of a few points. Portion sizes are considered modest, and many regulars recommend ordering a large portion (oomori). Prices are higher than at a typical neighborhood soba shop, reflecting the quality of the ingredients. With only two people running the restaurant, service can sometimes be slow, and some have noted the chef can be brusque during busy periods. Reviewers in 2024 paid around ¥1,760–¥1,870 for the signature kamo-tsukesoba, with a large portion costing an extra ¥330–¥385. The evening duck course is reported to be around ¥8,800.
