Raamen Mu (らぁmen夢) is a one-man operation in a quiet corner of Yokohama. It serves a clear chicken-and-soy shoyu ramen glossed with chicken fat, at prices that have become rare. It has been selected for Tabelog's regional "Tabelog 100" ramen list every year from 2018 to 2025. The signature is the zenbu-nose ("everything on top"): three or four thick cuts of chashu, braised or smoked pork and chicken, plus three wonton. A bottle of niboshi oil (dried-sardine oil) on the counter turns the bowl fish-forward. The tsukemen comes with kombu water and small dishes of salt, lemon and sugar for seasoning the noodles.
Nearly every review praises the chashu: melting pork belly beside smoky chicken. Reviewers also like the firm, thin straight noodles, the custardy ajitama (marinated egg) and the meaty wonton. Many call it the best value in Kanagawa and note how carefully the owner works.
The most frequent complaint is cleanliness. Reviewers mention dusty fittings, cloths they would not touch, and earlier diners' bowls left on the counter at busy times. Several found the soup too salty, and some long-time fans say it has become saltier in recent years. The owner barely speaks, and a few diners dislike the niboshi oil.
The listing puts the typical spend under ¥1,000 at both lunch and dinner. Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around ¥850 for plain ramen and ¥950 for ajitama ramen or tsukemen. The mini zenbu-nose was ¥1,000 and the full version ¥1,200. A large portion added ¥150, and the nikumeshi (chashu rice bowl) was ¥250, though it often sells out. Value is the main reason people come: reviewers say the toppings would cost far more elsewhere, and many could not finish the bowl.
- Getting there: 5 minutes' walk from JR Higashi-Kanagawa Station, West Exit; 7 minutes from Keikyu Higashi-Kanagawa Station; 10 minutes from Tanmachi Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line.
- Finding it: there is no permanent signboard. Look for a red awning, a chalkboard and, during opening hours, a sign reading "Ramen Yume".
- Payment: cash only, at an old ticket machine. Credit cards, electronic money and QR payments are not accepted. The machine rejects new ¥500 coins and large notes, so bring ¥1,000 notes and coins.
- Booking: no reservations. It is walk-in only, and groups are seated separately as seats free up.
- Queues: 5–10 people at peak lunch, with slow turnover. Weekdays at 11:30 or after 14:00 are quieter.
- Seats: 6 counter seats; no private rooms.
- Children: welcome.
- Smoking: non-smoking.
- Parking: none on site; coin parking nearby.
- Hours: it closes early when the soup runs out, and the restaurant advises checking hours before visiting.
