Tabelog ratingLe Musee de H Kanazawa ten (ル ミュゼ ドゥ アッシュ 金沢店) is the celebrated pâtisserie of world-renowned chef Hironobu Tsuji, located within the serene grounds of the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art. It's a destination for its exquisite petits gâteaux, which combine classic French technique with fine local ingredients like Noto milk, Kaga bōcha tea, and Noto salt. The café itself is a modern, glass-walled space offering tranquil views of the surrounding greenery, making it a popular stop for visitors to the museum and nearby Kenrokuen Garden.
Guests consistently praise the artistry and balanced flavors of the cakes. Signature items like the C'est la vie and Montblanc are frequently mentioned, as are seasonal creations such as the Gaburi Peach. The calm, museum-like atmosphere and attentive service also receive high marks, with some reviewers noting that staff who speak English or Mandarin are on hand to explain the different desserts.
The main drawback is its popularity. Many visitors report long waits of 30 to 90 minutes and a sometimes confusing system for ordering, with separate queues for dining in and takeaway. On busy days, popular items can sell out, and the kitchen may stop taking orders in the mid-afternoon. A minority of guests find the desserts a little too sweet or the prices high for the portion size.
Reviewers recently paid around ¥495 for a cream puff, ¥1,100 for the Savoir-Faire cake, and up to ¥1,650 for seasonal specials. The typical spend is between ¥1,000 and ¥1,999, which represents excellent value for a special occasion or a taste of world-class pastry, but may feel expensive for a casual snack.
