Men Tokoro To Ichi (麺処 と市) has earned its place as one of Nara's most celebrated ramen destinations, consistently appearing on "best of" lists. Its specialty is a "double soup," a complex broth blending animal (pork and chicken) and fish elements to create a rich, umami-forward base that feels substantial without being heavy. This signature soup is the foundation for both their classic ramen and their popular tsukemen (dipping noodles).

Diners consistently praise the harmony of the broth, the springy, chewy texture of the house-made flat noodles, and especially the chashu. The pork is famously thick-cut yet so tender it melts in the mouth. Popular orders include the Ajitama Ramen (with a seasoned egg), the more generous Ajitama Chashumen (with extra pork), and the Noko Tsukemen (rich dipping noodles). When available, limited-run bowls like the Miso Ramen draw dedicated crowds.

The shop's popularity means queues are common, with waits of an hour or more during peak times. A few reviewers have noted occasional inconsistencies, finding the soup saltier or the noodles softer than on previous visits, and the coveted limited-edition bowls often sell out within minutes of opening. However, the overwhelming consensus is positive, with most finding the quality exceptional.

Prices are very reasonable for the quality. While the typical spend is under ¥1,000, reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around ¥1,150 for a large Ajitama Ramen and ¥1,450 for the Ajitama Chashumen. The dipping noodles (Tsukemen) were also around ¥1,150. Many note that a large portion of noodles (omori) is often the same price, making it excellent value for hungry diners.
