Izakaya Deiriguchi Shimozato doori ten (居酒屋でいりぐち 下里通り店) is a branch of a well-known Miyako izakaya. The kitchen pairs standard izakaya dishes with creative takes on island ingredients. The signature is ika-sumi yakisoba, squid-ink fried noodles that are garlicky and rich, and several reviewers call it the best they have eaten. Other dishes you won't find elsewhere include deep-fried oden daikon (radish that is simmered first, then fried) and a peanut-tofu dish.

The service stands out as much as the food. Staff write the names of the island fish on a slip, prepare handwritten welcome cards and send guests off with chinsukō biscuits. More than one reviewer compares the hospitality to Disney. Beyond the yakisoba, guests praise the mozuku-moyashi champurū (seaweed and bean-sprout stir-fry), the daily local sashimi, stone-pot taco rice, shima rakkyō (island shallots) and beni-imo with gorgonzola.

Complaints are few. Some found the cooking merely ordinary and the prices slightly high for an izakaya. One solo diner was charged ¥1,300 for a reduced portion of an ¥1,800 dish, and one reservation was lost. Older reviews say this branch has a shorter menu than the main shop. Some seafood can sell out after typhoons.

In 2025–2026, reviewers paid around ¥1,800 for the squid-ink yakisoba, ¥1,500–2,000 for the sashimi platter, ¥600 for shima rakkyō, ¥580 for purple-potato salad, ¥880 per gō (180 ml) of awamori and ¥330 for the otōshi (cover dish). Dinner typically runs ¥3,000–4,000 a head, or about ¥7,000 with five or six drinks. The restaurant serves dinner only.

Most reviewers consider it good value, with generous portions and fair prices for the quality. Two couples paid ¥8,500 in total for a full meal.

  • Booking: essential, often 1–3 months ahead, by Instagram DM or by phone (0980-79-0197) from 15:30. Calls go unanswered during service. Walk-ins are occasionally seated around 20:00, but do not count on it. One foreign visitor reported being refused while Japanese walk-ins were admitted.
  • Seatings: two sittings, at 18:00 and 20:00, with a strict 90–120 minute limit.
  • Age restriction: no guests under 20.
  • Payment: credit cards accepted (VISA, Master, JCB, AMEX, Diners) and QR payments accepted (PayPay, d Barai, Rakuten Pay, au PAY). Electronic money is not accepted.
  • Seating: counter seating. No private rooms and no private hire.
  • Smoking: the listing states non-smoking, though some reviewers mention smoking at tables.
  • Parking: none. Use nearby coin parking.
  • Drinks: sake, shochu and awamori.
