Fukuryu En (福龍園) is a small, chef-run restaurant in Osaka's Tenma district that has earned a loyal following for its honest, punchy Sichuan-style cooking. This is not a formal dining room but a classic neighbourhood Chinese kitchen, where the focus is squarely on flavour.

The undisputed star of the menu is the 'Super' Mapo Tofu (超級麻婆豆腐). Reviewers consistently praise its perfect balance of numbing Sichuan peppercorn heat, savoury depth, and tangy notes that make it an addictive companion to rice. Other highly recommended dishes include the tantanmen and sanratanmen noodles, and the juicy pan-fried gyoza. Portions are generous, and the chef is known to adjust spice levels for guests. Several international visitors have noted the friendly and accommodating service.

A minority of diners have reported occasional inconsistency, finding the mapo tofu underseasoned or other dishes like fried rice uneven. As it's often a one-man operation, the service can be brisk or slow, and the chef can come across as gruff when busy.

The value is widely considered excellent, especially at lunchtime. Reviewers in 2024–2026 typically paid around ¥1,100–¥1,160 for the Super Mapo Tofu lunch set, which includes soup, a small side, and a free rice refill. A plate of pan-fried gyoza costs around ¥450. The typical spend for both lunch and dinner is between ¥1,000 and ¥1,999.
