The draw at BAR YUMOTO is the room. A full-width glass wall looks straight onto the Genbei River, a clear, spring-fed stream lit at night. In early summer, guests report watching fireflies, cats and the occasional masked palm civet from their seats. The co-owner won the Nippon Bartenders Association national championship in 2008. The seasonal list is built around Shizuoka produce, and the Seseragi Mojito uses mint grown in the river beside the bar. The bar was selected for Tabelog's Bar 100 in 2022.

Most reviews come back to the view, and then to the fruit. The most-named drinks are a watermelon salty dog, a strawberry frozen cocktail, a Mishima mango daiquiri, a ripe-pineapple rum Matador and a Bloody Mary made with fresh Ishiyama tomatoes. Staff are praised for building a drink from a vague brief such as “weak and sweet”, for keeping a comfortable distance, and for a well-chosen shelf of Islay malts.

A recurring minority finds it louder than a classic hotel-style bar, with regulars, groups and smokers filling the room. A few report brusque service, such as a coaster tossed down or regulars favoured over newcomers. Two reviewers rated the cocktails only on a par with Tokyo, and one found the shaken short drinks weaker than the fruit drinks.

There is no printed menu or price list. Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around ¥1,500 per cocktail. Three cocktails came to about ¥4,800–5,300 per person. Two drinks each, including the table charge, came to roughly ¥4,000. Two cocktails with prosciutto and smoked-pickle cheese ran to about ¥6,000. A typical evening costs ¥5,000–6,000. There is no lunch service.

Value is good. Reviewers repeatedly call the bill cheap or fair for fresh-fruit cocktails in a room like this.
