Osteria Il Garbo has been cooking since 2017 from what Shizuoka produces. The kitchen makes its own pasta, and the menu changes every month around local fish such as amadai (tilefish) and kinmedai (golden-eye snapper). Two pastas define the place: tagliolini with sakura-ebi, the tiny sweet shrimp landed at nearby Yui, finished with a gentle chilli kick, and tagliatelle with a bolognese of local Ashitaka beef and Amagi black pork.
Almost every review praises the restraint of the seasoning, which lets the ingredients speak. Diners also single out the chilled corn soup that opens summer courses, the vegetable and fig fritti, and the house potato bread and rosemary focaccia. Staff are warm and unobtrusive, and the chef often comes out to greet guests.
The complaints are consistent too. Service is slow, and one diner found two hours before a train barely enough. Portions are small. Some guests were bothered by loud groups at neighbouring tables, a cold dining room in winter and dish explanations delivered too quietly to follow. Wine is on the expensive side.
Reviewers in 2025–2026 paid ¥3,850 for the pasta lunch course, with dessert ¥715 extra. A ¥7,000 course can also be booked at lunch. Dinner courses ran ¥8,800 after an October price rise, and one diner paid for an ¥11,000 course. Typical spend is about ¥5,000–6,000 at lunch and ¥10,000–15,000 at dinner.
Value is very good at lunch, where reviewers call under ¥5,000 for this quality excellent. Dinner is fairly priced for the cooking, but wine quickly raises the bill, and the portions will not leave you very full.
