BUNON Fushimi (ブノン) is a dim basement wine bar from the team behind the now-closed teppan French restaurant Esperanza in Sakae. Its reputation rests on a hamburg steak, a Japanese-style beef patty, that reviewers rank alongside specialist shops. It arrives crisp outside and is so juicy that cutting it floods the plate. You order by weight, from 150g upwards in 50g steps. The kitchen also has fun with foie gras, serving it as a breaded katsu-sando and Edomae-style over vinegared rice.
Nearly every review praises the hamburg steak, usually served on mashed potato with grilled vegetables. Several other dishes come up again and again:
- meat-stuffed black olives;
- unusual potato salads, either tuna and basil or topped with karasumi (cured mullet roe);
- pâté de campagne and carrot râpé;
- the daily specials on the blackboard.
Reviewers also often single out the staff's wine advice.
The complaints are minor but recurring. Drinks are expensive, and one 2026 diner objected to a cover charge on top of a one-drink rule. One 2024 guest found a staff member condescending about wine. Regulars can take over the counter, and one humid September evening brought mosquitoes.
Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around:
- ¥1,600 for a 150g hamburg steak with vegetables and mash;
- ¥500–580 for the stuffed olives;
- ¥1,080 for the karasumi potato salad;
- ¥880 for stuffed firefly squid;
- ¥2,980 for the Edomae-style foie gras;
- from about ¥900 for a glass of wine.
There is no lunch service. Dinner typically runs ¥6,000–7,999 per person, and three diners reported paying about ¥16,000 together.
The food is good value, the hamburg steak especially. Drinks and the cover charge are what push the bill up.
