Takumi Mitsukoshi ten (匠 三越店) is a seven-seat curry counter run by the kitchen of the long-established Japanese restaurant Nihon Ryori Takumi. Its signature is sarasara curry, a thin, smooth sauce with no visible ingredients. Wagyu bones and domestic vegetables are simmered for three days, then sieved and skimmed. The result pours almost like a consommé yet carries deep savoury flavour and a spice that builds slowly. Fried toppings are cooked only after you order. The counter was selected for Tabelog's curry 'Tabelog 100' list in 2023 and 2024.
Nearly every reviewer praises the depth of the sauce, and several rank it among the best Japanese curry they have eaten. The large, fresh ebi fry (fried prawns) is the repeat highlight in English, Chinese and Japanese reviews alike. Others single out the soft omelette curry, the crisp, tender tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and the winter kaki fry (fried oyster) special. The house pickles earn their own mentions: a mild cabbage pickle, rakkyo (pickled shallots) and fukujinzuke (sweet relish). Staff are described as courteous and careful.
The criticisms are consistent. Price is the main one, particularly for a curry with nothing in it, and rice portions are small. Dishes are cooked in order of arrival, so waits can stretch past 20 minutes. The busy food-hall setting is not relaxing. A minority found the curry good rather than remarkable. Be aware that it is spicier than typical Japanese curry.
Reviewers in 2025–2026 paid around ¥1,650 for plain sarasara curry (¥1,430 in 2022–24), ¥1,870 for omelette curry, ¥2,310 for ebi fry curry and ¥2,420 for tonkatsu curry, or ¥2,750 as a large portion. Cheese added ¥250. Lunch and dinner prices are the same, so expect roughly ¥1,700–2,800 per person at either meal, plus a service charge. It is fair value rather than a bargain. Order a topping, or a large portion if you are hungry.
