Most Sanuki udon shops in Kagawa close by mid-afternoon. Teuchi Udon Tsurumaru, open since 1981, works the other shift. It opens at 8pm in the Furubabacho drinking quarter and stays open until 2am, which has made it Takamatsu's standard last stop of the night. Noodles are hand-rolled and boiled in view of the counter. The house style is curry udon, a thin, soup-like curry cut with Japanese dashi. The shop has been selected several times for Tabelog's Udon "Tabelog 100" lists, most recently for Kagawa in 2024.
Praise centres on the gyu-shabu curry udon, made with thin-sliced beef. Reviewers like its mild, broth-heavy curry, and many drink it to the last drop. The self-serve oden comes up almost as often, especially the daikon radish and beef tendon. The curry tempura udon, with a whole prawn and sweet pumpkin, also has its fans.
The recurring complaint is service. Several foreign visitors describe curt staff who shouted instructions or said no thanks at payment. One Korean reviewer felt discriminated against. A steady minority found the curry ordinary and the noodles soft rather than chewy, and felt the bowl was not worth a 30–60 minute wait. One regular noted that the noodles are thinner than they used to be.
Expect to spend around ¥1,000–1,500 per person. There is no lunch service. In 2025–2026 reviewers paid about ¥900 for plain curry udon, ¥1,150 for gyu-shabu curry (¥150 extra for a large) and ¥1,050 for curry with raw egg. Kake udon in plain broth was ¥600 and bukkake tempura udon ¥1,200. Oden ran ¥150 a skewer, or ¥200 for beef tendon.
Value is fair rather than a bargain. Japanese reviewers consider it solid for a late-night bowl. Visitors point out that it costs more than daytime udon shops in town and that portions are modest.
