The draw is the house niboshi soba: a grey, intensely sardine-flavoured broth with a bitter edge that still finishes clean. It comes with firm thin noodles, chopped raw onion and rare pork loin sliced to order. Around it rotates a daily cast of seafood specials, announced on X, such as cold oysters, snow crab and abalone liver. The shop has been selected for Tabelog's ramen "Tabelog 100" every year from 2019 to 2025. From 17:00 the counter becomes a sake bar, with snacks first and ramen as the finish.
Nearly every reviewer praises the depth of the broth and the snappy noodles. Most diners add an aedama, a bowl of extra noodles dressed in sauce. The oyster, crab miso, black vinegar and iriko-butter (dried anchovy with butter) versions all draw raves. One English-speaking chef called the cold oyster noodles mind-blowing. At night, guests single out the sake pairings and the cured mackerel "ham".
The criticism is consistent. Several reviewers found the staff curt or intimidating, and one foreign visitor was turned away at the door without explanation, most likely for not joining the queue outside. Some find the broth salty or the noodles too hard, a few were underwhelmed by specials, and portions are small without add-ons.
Reviewers in 2025–2026 paid ¥1,000 for the classic bowl, ¥1,200–1,500 for specials, ¥300–550 for an aedama, ¥400 for extra pork and ¥150 for quail eggs. In the evening they paid ¥980 for a three-snack plate and from ¥880 for sake. Typical spend is ¥1,000–1,999 at lunch and ¥2,000–2,999 at dinner. Value is good for the quality, although a filling meal needs an aedama or extra meat, which brings lunch to around ¥1,500–2,000.
