Yoshokuya Ki Luck (洋食屋 綺・Luck) is a small, unassuming restaurant in Yokohama that has earned a devoted following and multiple Tabelog Top 100 awards for its take on yoshoku, or Japanese-style Western cuisine. The entire operation—kitchen and service—is run by a single, highly skilled chef, creating an intimate but unhurried dining experience.
The undisputed star of the menu is the Grilled Hamburg. Reviewers consistently praise the thick, meat-forward patty that releases a flood of juices when cut. It’s served with a complex demi-glace sauce, subtly lifted by a note of sansho (Japanese pepper). The lunch course is widely considered a bargain, including a small appetiser plate (often a potage and terrine), the main dish with a choice of house-baked bread or rice, and a dessert with drip coffee. Other highly recommended dishes for a return visit include the shrimp duxelles (海老のデュクセル) and the rich Wagyu beef stew (和牛ビーフシチュー).
The one-man service model means things move slowly, with meals often taking 40 to 90 minutes. The chef's service style is often described as taciturn or curt, though not unfriendly. A few diners have found the sauces a little strong or salty for their taste. Lunch courses with the signature Hamburg steak were recently reported by reviewers at ¥1,900–¥2,200. The shrimp duxelles course was around ¥2,800–¥2,950, and the beef stew course was ¥3,200–¥3,300. Given the quality and number of components, most find it excellent value.
