Sushi Michi Sakurada (寿し道 桜田) is a ten-seat counter run by a young chef trained at Kyubey in Ginza. Every meal opens the same way. He seasons red-vinegar rice in front of you and serves the first bite freshly cut, wrapped in thick, custom-made nori. The omakase leans on Aichi fish, much of it killed by ikejime at a local supplier, and comes with a sommelier-led sake and wine pairing. It ends with the house uirō tamago, a set, almost dessert-like egg confection. The restaurant was selected for Tabelog Sushi EAST 100 in 2025.

Almost every review praises that opening bite. Other dishes reviewers name again and again:

  • Steamed abalone with liver sauce, with rice added to the leftover sauce
  • Kuruma ebi, boiled in small batches
  • Red, purple and bafun uni served side by side
  • Kohada
  • Piping-hot anago

Reviewers also praise the pairings and the attentive, well-coordinated staff.

Criticism comes from a minority of reviewers, but it is specific:

  • In 2024 one reviewer found shell and scales in the food.
  • One found the rice too sour.
  • Some found the chef self-promoting, heard staff complain about another guest, or felt regulars dominated the room.
  • Two mentioned small nigiri and slow pacing.

Prices have climbed steeply from the ¥15,000–24,000 people paid in 2020–2024. In 2025–2026, reviewers paid around ¥38,500 for the dinner omakase and about ¥46,000–51,000 per person with drinks. One paid ¥22,000 for lunch in 2025. Typical spend is ¥40,000–49,999 at dinner and ¥30,000–39,999 at lunch, plus a 10% service charge. For serious sushi diners the long, generous course is good value, though a few feel the price now outruns the experience.

  • Getting there: 5 minutes' walk from Hisaya-odori Station, Exit 1, or 8 minutes from Marunouchi Station, Exit 4. The restaurant moved within Marunouchi in September 2024, so use the current address.
  • Booking: reservation only, so you cannot walk in. Reviewers report no phone bookings and caught seats on the OMAKASE platform when slots opened, so plan weeks ahead. Reservations are non-transferable, and arriving more than 30 minutes late counts as a cancellation.
  • Timing: everyone starts together, at 12:00 for lunch and around 18:00–19:00 for dinner. There is nowhere to wait, so do not arrive early. Allow about two hours.
  • Seats: 10 counter seats; no private rooms or private hire.
  • Menu: set omakase only. You may bring your own drinks for ¥4,400 per bottle.
  • Payment: Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex and Diners. Electronic money and QR payments are not accepted.
  • Children: welcome only if they order the same course as adults.
  • Dress code: smart casual. Men should not wear shorts, beach sandals or sportswear.
  • Perfume: guests wearing strong perfume or hair products may be refused entry.
  • Photos: keep them brief, with no flash or shutter sound.
  • Language: the listing says English-speaking staff are available. A 2024 visitor found the staff spoke a little English.
  • Smoking and parking: non-smoking. There is no parking, but there is coin parking nearby.
