Tachi no Kura (立ノ蔵) is the standing-only offshoot of the highly regarded Sushi no Kura, offering a high-end sushi experience in a tiny, three-person space in Sapporo's bustling Susukino district. The concept is simple: serve exquisite nigiri quickly, without the formality of a full-length dinner. The main draw is the chance to enjoy fish of the same quality as its parent restaurant, prepared with inventive flair right before your eyes. A signature piece is the yari-ika (squid), which the chef finishes by searing it with a soldering iron, a spectacle in itself.

Guests consistently praise the quality of the seafood, which they say rivals that of much more expensive establishments. Besides the famous squid, reviewers rave about the hotate (scallop), kin-ki (broadbanded thornyhead), uni (sea urchin), and negi-maguro (tuna with scallion). The omakase (chef's choice) sets are considered excellent value, moving quickly from the chef's hand to your plate.

The primary challenge is the venue's size. With only three standing spots, getting in is largely a matter of luck, and the space is very tight. Some diners have found the chef's service to be curt, and a few have noted occasional inconsistency in execution. It's a place for a quick, focused meal, not a leisurely evening.

Reviewers typically spend between ¥10,000 and ¥14,999 for dinner. Recent reports from 2024–2026 show a 5-piece omakase costing around ¥3,300, a 9-piece set at ¥5,500, and a 12-piece set at ¥7,200, with additional pieces available. For the level of skill and quality of fish, this is widely seen as very good value.

  • Booking: Walk-in only. Reservations are not accepted during main hours (a late-night option exists after 1 AM). With only three spots, entry is often a matter of luck.
  • Getting There: A 5-minute walk from Susukino Station. The bar is on the 1st floor of the Nishi 5 Center building.
  • Seating: 3 standing places at the counter. Maximum party size is 3 people.
  • Payment: Credit cards only. Cash, electronic money, and QR code payments are not accepted.
  • Practicalities: The restaurant is non-smoking. There is no restroom inside the shop and no parking available. Some reviewers reported blunt service and, rarely, undisclosed charges, so it's wise to confirm costs upfront.
