Shusui Daigo (酒粋 醍醐) is built around a wall of 400–500 sakes, including sought-after names such as Juyondai and Jikon. Sakes are poured in 90ml glasses at modest prices. You can also choose a two-hour all-you-can-drink course that covers about 300 labels. Staff with sommelier training will put together a flight if you describe what you like. The izakaya has appeared in Tabelog's izakaya WEST "Tabelog 100" list in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Almost every review praises the range of the list and the recommendations. Foreign visitors who asked the bartender for a tasting flight were consistently pleased. The kitchen often surprises guests too. Dishes reviewers mention most are:
- Aburi toro shime saba: cured mackerel blowtorched at the counter.
- Sake no sakana sankyōdai: three morsels grilled on toasted kelp.
- Shiro-ebi kombu-jime: white shrimp cured in kelp.
- White shrimp karaage.
- Dashimaki tamago.
- A salt ramen in seafood broth.
There are criticisms. A minority found the food ordinary or too salty. Several reviewers described some staff as curt or indifferent towards tourists. When the room is full, it can be hard to get anyone's attention. Premium bottles sell out or are excluded from the drinking courses, and one certified sake sommelier found some pours off.
Reviewers in 2024–2026 paid around these prices:
- ¥550–600 for a standard glass of sake, ¥850–1,200 for better bottles and ¥2,000 or more for rarities.
- ¥3,500 or ¥4,500 for the two-hour drinking courses.
- ¥1,300 for the aburi toro shime saba, ¥2,000 for three kinds of sashimi, ¥2,000 for a four-item otsumami set and ¥800 for a half ramen.
Dinner typically runs ¥6,000–8,000 per person. There is no lunch service, as the doors open at 15:00. One couple's bill reached ¥30,000. For sake drinkers it is good value, and reviewers called the ¥4,500 course exceptional for the bottles it includes. Light eaters with no interest in sake will find it pricey.
