An interesting view of Tokyo Tower opens up from Zōjō-ji Temple, creating a contrast between history and modernity. The temple houses the mausoleum of the Tokugawa clan.

A more classical museum, devoted mainly to Japanese art. Admission starts from ¥1500.

If you love nature, drop by Hamarikyu Park. There are many birds, ponds and bridges. You also get a panoramic view of the Rainbow Bridge.

A large area in central Tokyo is occupied by the Imperial Palace — a samurai castle rebuilt after World War II air raids. Looking at a map it may seem like the city's main tourist spot, but most of the grounds are closed. You can enter only by taking a guided tour (300 people for walk-ins and 200 by reservation), and you must follow the group along the permitted path. Reviews of the tour are generally rather disappointed.

Almost every major garden has tea houses. They don't necessarily run workshops, but you can certainly enjoy a drink in a secluded atmosphere.
